Security warning when opening Vertec URLs with Office

When opening a Vertec URL with Office, a security warning may appear:

If the affected user has administrator rights on the computer, it is sufficient to run Vertec.Protocolhandler.exe /install once (running as administrator is not enough). In the case of a terminal server, this has to be done separately in each session.

Since this is not usually the case, the following solution via Group Policies can help:

1. Download and save the VertecProtocolhandler.adm file.
2. Start the gpedit.msc editor: Open Windows+R, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
3. Right click on User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Add/Remove Templates...

   

4. Add the file VertecProtocolhandler.adm from point 1 and click Close.
5. Under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM), select the Vertec Protocolhandler.
6. On the right side, activate the appropriate version of Office: Select Office > Edit policy setting > Activator.
   

   

7. Log out and log in again.

On a computer with many users, such as a terminal server, Group Policies can be used to make settings for all users.

In a network, this configuration should be done company-wide via Group Policy, so that not all computers have to be adapted locally. Contact your network administrator for this.
