The plug-ins are standardized Config config sets with which you can import Vertec configurations such as folder structures, settings, settings processes, etc. into your Vertec at the push of a button.
The plug-ins are available for download free of charge and are described in detail.
Important notes before importing
There are a couple things to consider before importing a plug-in:
- Plugins affect the entire Vertec, so only users with administrator privileges can import plugins.
- Removing imported plug-ins is risky in a production Vertec, so you should only import plug-ins into your production Vertec that you have previously tested on a test system and that you are sure you want to use.
If you are unsure whether a particular plug-in fits your environment, talk to your Vertec consultant.
- Depending on the plug-in, there are requirements that must be met in order to work with it as described. These are specified in each case. Unsuitable plug-ins can be imported, but cannot be fully used afterwards. We therefore recommend that you only import plug-ins for which your Vertec meets the requirements.
- Files that need to be stored on the file system, such as report templates, cannot be “imported” with the plug-ins, but must be downloaded and stored separately. This is specified in the description and the files are available for download. To ensure a smooth running of the plug-ins as described, you should use all specified files.
- The plug-ins can be used independently of each other. If existing structures from Vertec are used (for example, a folder in which certain structures are stored), they will only be created by the plug-in if they do not yet exist. Otherwise, the existing ones will be used. This also applies to structures that have already been created by another plug-in.
Download the desired plug-in and save it to your file system. Log in to Vertec with administrator rights (plug-ins can be imported into all full-featured apps).
A plug-in can be deleted or removed. Deleting deletes all objects associated with the plug-in, while removing the objects remain in the system.
Note: Re-importing an already imported plug-in will overwrite any changes you made to scripts or list settings.
The exact import process is described in the article about config sets.
New versions of plug-ins
New versions of plug-ins that contain enhancements or feature enhancements are released from time to time. If you have never imported the plug-in before, use the version provided in the Knowledge Base article.
If you have already imported a previous version of the plug-in, it is not easily possible to import a new version. In particular,
- all adjustments made by you to list settings, class settings, scripts, links and custom field items are lost
- No objects that were included in the old version of the plug-in and that would interfere with the new version are deleted during the import. This means that legacy loads may remain in the system.
Should you still want to use the new version, you should have a detailed analysis carried out by your Vertec adviser in order to retrofit the new features if necessary.
