Created: 13.06.2003
Updated: 12.11.2020 | Added reference to version 6.4.0.10 in the Excel template.

Via the menu button Export to Excel, the displayed list is written directly to an Excel file, cached in the temporary folder and opened for the user.

In addition to the font and background colors, the data types are applied, and the cells are formatted accordingly in Excel. If there are summed columns in the list, they are also summed in Excel.

An exception is the export of time values to simplify subsequent calculations in Excel. Vertec exports time values as hours in decimal representation, even if they are displayed on the interface as hours:minutes. The rules are as follows:

  • If pure minutes are selected as the display (no renderer is specified or the system setting Display Minutes is set to Minutes), minutes are exported.
  • The exception is the dbmtim.TimeRenderer. Column with this setting are still exported as hours:minutes. This renderer is mainly used for values from – to in services entry.
  • All other time values are exported as hours.decimal.

Default template for Excel exports

A standard template can be created for the Excel exports. As soon as one is available, this template will be used for all exports. This is useful, for example, if you want to add your company logo or a company-specific header or footer to the Excel exports of Vertec list views.

Creating a template

Create an Excel template and save it as VertecExport.xlsx (or VertecExport.xlt if you are using a Vertec version earlier than 6.0).

For versions prior to 6.4.0.10, the template must be located in the report template root directory (system setting Word report template path). For Vertec Cloud App and Vertec Web App, the report directory must be available on the server, because the Excel export is run on the server and is then transferred to the client.

For version 6.4.0.10 onwards, the template must be located in the Vertec installation directory.

You can now customize this template as you like (font &  font size, logo, cell formatting, etc.).

Defining start area

If an area called VertecStart is defined in the template, the export starts at this point.

To define an area, select the appropriate row in the template and click Formulas > Define Name. Give the area the name VertecStart:
