Before-After Comparison of Loaded Objects

There are several components that can affect performance. In the case of slow operations, it may be worthwhile to compare the loaded objects before and after the operation to get an indication of where the performance problem might come from. This could be, for example, opening a folder, starting a BI analysis, or running a report.

To analyze the Loaded Objects, proceed as follows:

  1. Restart your Vertec.
  2. Open under Einstellungen the option System Info....
  1. Here you will find the [LoadedObjects] section with a list of all objects that have been loaded:
  1. Copy and paste this section into the Notepad++ Editor.
  2. Now perform the operation you want to analyze.
  3. Copy the [Loaded Objects] section again, paste it into a new file in the Notepad++ Editor and click Compare(If this option does not appear, it can be added under Enhancements > Plugin management):

Afterwards, an overview appears in which the differences, or changes, of the two files are highlighted in color. This overview allows an insight into unexpected differences and thus provides clues as to the reason for the poor performance.

For example, if a lot of objects are loaded at an unexpected location, it is worth taking a closer look. For example, it could be a column with an expression that needs to load a lot of objects.

The Test Test folder performance script can be used to analyze the columns of a folder. This script returns a list showing the load times of each column. Again, it is important that Vertec is restarted before execution to make sure that the objects are not already in memory.
