Your impact at Vertec

As an IT Consultant CRM/ERP Integration or technical project manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of the Vertec business software at service companies and support them in the implementation phase with the goal to establish efficient business processes. With your expertise, you will ensure that our customers from different industries benefit from our CRM and ERP software. Share your technical and business know-how with customers, sales partners and the entire Vertec team.

Your challenges

You analyse the customer’s existing business processes to develop a promising implementation concept

In doing so, you do not simply implement requirements, but advise on which solutions are the right ones.

You implement Vertec in companies as well as individual technical configurations so that customers benefit from a tailored business software solution.

You develop scripts and automations, create templates in Microsoft Office and customize individual user interfaces.

In order for our customers to use Vertec effectively, you give trainings on our software and report frequently occurring requirements to product management.

Your expertise

You have an affinity to technologies and a broad understanding of business processes and procedures. You have (at least basic) knowledge of Python.

You love developing concepts and implementing them technically. You are also happy to frequently travel to your customers for on-location appointments in the DACH region (travel activity approx. 30%, typically daily trips).

Thanks to your entrepreneurial mindset, you easily identify the real needs of customers and their industries and hence develop solutions that really help them move forward.

Your confident appearance and communication skills help you present your solutions convincingly to the customer.

You have ideally already acquired knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access) and SQL. If you have experience in implementing and customizing ERP/CRM software, this is a plus, but not a must-have.

Answers to the most important questions

The position of a Technical Project Leader (f/m/d) combines several exciting areas of responsibility.

On the one hand, it requires social skills. The person has to put himself in the shoes of the customers and needs to be able to identify and document their requirements and needs. The work also requires the highest degree of reliability, because agreed times, budgets and quality objectives have to be met.

What's more, the focus on technical implementation skills is as important. This means that customer-specific requirements have to be implemented by customizing Vertec accordingly and/or creating adequate scripts.

The goal is to find an ideal balance between maximum customer benefit and maintainable, high-performance solutions.

This is usually not necessary, because the development of the Vertec core product takes place independently of customer-specific adaptations. The main advantage of this is that the new releases can be implemented by customers without affecting or even losing customer-specific adaptations. The core development is therefore carried out by the central development team in Zurich and customer-specific adaptations are carried out by technical project management upon customer orders.

This may vary, but typically several projects at different stages are managed by the respective project manager. For example, while one or two projects are in the pre- or roll-out phase, there may be customization work need to be done for three other existing customers.

After the onboarding period, we expect working hours to be a billed at a rate of 60 %. This means that the project manager works 100 % of his time on customer projects for 3 out of 5 days and can charge their hours to the customer.

There are also project managers with a billing rate of up to 80 %. However, this requires a lot of experience and the handling of rather large customer projects. The remaining 40 % is used for own planning and preparation as well as for internal projects, meetings and tasks.

This may vary quite a lot and can largely be handled independently by the respective project management. There's one thing that matters to us: customer satisfaction.

The following models are proven:

Some Vertec project managers prefer to spend most of their working time on-location at the customer's premises for a better focus and short communication. Others prefer the opposite model. They work out of the Vertec offices to be able to work on several projects in parallel rather than being directly available to a specific customer.

Together with the customer, the optimal working scenario is found.

At Vertec, we prefer to travel by public transport. On the one hand, this is more environmentally friendly and on the other hand, it allows us to use travel time as working time. By train, our project management travels in 1st class, while on our infrequent flights we use economy class.

We are aware that there is a lot to learn and discover when you are new to Vertec.

We usually expect an onboarding period of 3 to 5 months until you are able to work on your first customer projects independently. This period usually consists of the following components/measures:

  • Participation in one of the next customer courses for 4 to 5 days
  • Detailed onboarding plan with project management related, specific and general Vertec information, including meetings and internal process training, such as the Process Management System training or Vertec Information Security briefing
  • Following a senior project manager in his projects and gradually taking on increasingly demanding sub-tasks, such as writing a meeting protocol or creating smaller scripts and customization

Independent takeover of smaller projects of new customers or customization work for existing customers.
