Vertec can also be run on terminal servers. There are a few points to note.

Installation

For older versions of Terminal Server, you must manually switch to the installation mode before installing. For newer versions of Terminal Server, the installation mode starts automatically.

Conversion

It is possible that a database conversion does not start automatically. This has to do with checking the server name.

To convert, follow these steps:

  1. Create a backup of the production database.
  2. Then copy the production database to use as the source for the convert. Note the name of the copy (e.g. VertecKopie.fdb).
  3. Start the conversion manually locally on the server by starting Vertec with the /DC command line parameter. The database converter will open. The target database is already specified. It is the production database.
  4. As the source database, specify the copy you created in point 2. The easiest way is to copy the information of the target database into the source database and change the path at ServerName:
  5. Activate the option Schema erstellen und Daten kopieren.
  6. Start the convert. The white area of the main window shows the process. When the convert is complete, you can close the converter window. Now Vertec can start normally.
  7. The copy created in point 2 will no longer be used and can be deleted. However, to be safe, keep the backup you created in point 1 for some time after the convert.
