Dial via uri (outgoing calls)

Vertec supports dialing from Vertec via URI. To use this functionality, the system setting Telephony > Support dialing via uri must be activated (default).

When dialing from Vertec (right mouse button on the number > Call), Vertec transmits the number via ExecuteURL as tel: URI to the local telephony client.

This also works with the web app if a telephony client is installed on the local client.

Calls from Vertec

Calling from Vertec is possible on any Communication Channel , such as phone or mobile, by right-clicking:

Also select directly in lists via context menu:

Connection to telephony systems (outgoing and incoming calls)

Vertec also provides connections to telephony systems. These connections, also known as CTI (Computer Telephony Integration), allow both automatic dialing from Vertec and the handling of incoming calls.

Normalize phone numbers

In order to be able to detect incoming calls, the phone numbers must be saved in normalized form. Therefore, before using the telephony interface for the first time, a normalization process should be performed. This can be started from the menu Settings > Normalize phone numbers....

The communication channels (commschannel) in Vertec have an attribute NormalizedZiel. There, the phone number is saved in a standardized (normalized) format:

  1. If number starts with 00 or +, the beginning of the number is interpreted as a country code. Country codes have a hierarchical structure of 1 – 3 digits. Vertec uses the logic according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_country_calling_codes. Examples:

    Germany +49
    United States of America +1
    Greece +30
    Iceland +354
  2. If the country code is followed by a 0, it is removed.
  3. The rest is the detail number. Spaces, parentheses or hyphens are ignored.

The normalized number is visible in the context menu of the CommsChannel of type phone, mobile or fax:

What to do if normalization fails somewhere?

If a number cannot be split correctly into its components (country code, region code, detail), the normalized form will be left blank. Errors during normalization occur if the format of the number is not recognized. For example, if the region code is not 3-digit or Detail is not 4-digit.

In case of errors during normalization, a warning is written to the standard log file. It shows which address entries have problematic numbers.
