Now, ÖKOTEC has ensured greater efficiency in the processes in-house – thus freeing up a lot of time and energy that had previously been invested in filling out Excel spreadsheets.

ÖKOTEC stands for the successful development of intelligent solutions to reduce energy costs. With projects at over 550 industrial and commercial sites, the company is one of Germany’s leading specialists for energy efficiency and energy savings in the industry. The company is familiar with the latest technologies and developments in the energy sector. The energy efficiency controlling developed by Ökotec carries out a cost-benefit analysis of the energy consumption of a company and shows where the greatest savings potential exists based on specific KPIs.
However, ÖKOTEC’s business solutions have not kept pace with the rapid growth of the company. Since the company was founded in 1999, project controlling and numerous administrative processes have been mapped in Excel spreadsheets, which have become increasingly complex over the years. “Invoicing used to be a time-consuming process, in which we created the invoices manually based on the recorded services, the contracts and the assessments of the project leaders. Afterwards we transferred them back to Excel spreadsheets,” recalls Roland Berger, Managing Director at ÖKOTEC.

The search for a system to finally replace the Excel patchwork led ÖKOTEC to Vertec. “On the one hand, Vertec offered an integrated solution for customer data management and business management,” says Berger. “On the other hand, our existing processes and data could be transferred to the new application with only little effort.”

For the engineers at ÖKOTEC, efficiency is not just a buzzword. They are used to prove the efficiency of their energy-saving measures to their customers with data. As a consequence, it was only logic they used the newly implemented Vertec to measure the increase in efficiency of their own company. The results even surprised ÖKOTEC Managing Director Berger: “We are now handling the invoicing process much more securely and faster than before.”
