It happens that the Vertec desktop app fails to start with the following error message: Unable to complete network request to host...
. The Windows Error Code is 10061 (Connection refused).
Typically, the problem occurs after the Cloud Servers
is booted. One reason for this is that an Exchange service (mad.exe
) or an IIS service (inetinfo.exe
) grabs port 3050
. Port 3050 is the default port for Firebird databases. In Win 2003, the problem also occurred with the NT Replication Service service. The problem can also occur if the entry in the service file (C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc) is correct. The problem occurs when certain programs do not follow the port allocation in the Services file. It is also possible that the service is not running.
First determine if the Firebird service is started. If it is not, start it. If this does not work or the service is already running, follow the instructions below:
The first step is to determine which service is occupying the port. The best way to do this is to use a program that shows you the active ports, a so-called port scanner. A good program for this is CurrPorts from NirSoft, which can be downloaded free of charge (this product is provided by a company that Vertec AG has nothing to do with.
