All data links in Vertec can be created using drag & drop. This is especially useful if you want to change a certain link for entire lists of data. For example, if you want to transfer all the open services from one project to another project in Vertec, you can do this, of course, by switching the project for each individual service. However, it is more elegant (and faster) with drag & drop: Select all the services you want to transfer and drag them to the new project.
To define which objects are to be relinked, they must be selected. You can do this in the list by clicking on the gray square on the far left of the list:
If you want to select more than one object, click on the gray square and press the CTRL key at the same time:
All selected rows are highlighted with a dot, and one of the rows is also highlighted with a triangle. If you do not want to select the rows individually, you can select an entire, cohesive list by clicking and holding the SHIFT key at the same time.
Finally, if you want to select all objects in the list, click on the bright square in the title row:
There are now several options for drag & drop:
The starting point must always be the row that also shows the triangle as well as the dot (otherwise, the selection is deleted again). If the result of the drag & drop is clear, the new link is created without further user input. In this example, we drag all active projects to a user. There are two different options: as project manager (owned projects
) or as project user (projects
). When selecting owned projects
, all dragged projects would accept this new project manager.
This variant is useful if you want to link a single entry. In this example, we want to link the user Christoph Keller
with the folder Sales
.
So you see, any variant is possible: start point icon or list, end point icon or list.
As shown in the above image, this also works across window boundaries: The windows are opened individually (see navigation) and placed side by side so that the entries can be dragged across (works with all apps except the Vertec Web App, where drag & drop is only possible within a window).
