When looking at a cloud solution that is accessible to everyone via the Internet, key questions about the security and availability of their own data quickly arise. We will highlight the fact that Vertec addresses these questions and takes the issue of security extremely seriously.
What does Vertec do specifically for the security of the Cloud Suite?
Vertec has been ISO 27001 certified information standard for over 10 years and compliance with stringent security requirements is monitored and recertified annually by external auditors. Regular penetration tests with external specialists proactively identify vulnerabilities. This is an essential measure for early detection and remediation of risks. Furthermore, the separation of the networks between the Cloud Suite and the own IT applications ensures that no security breaches can be transmitted between the two networks. Regular updates at the operating system and application level also minimize the attack surface of potential threats.
Vertec’s internal guidelines also require the use of two-factor authentication. This significantly increases security, since access is only possible after entering a second independent factor. Finally, this also includes regular information security training and awareness raising among its own employees.
How the Vertec backup Policy keeps your data secure
Vertec operates the infrastructure required for operation at two ISO 27001 certified hosters, Exoscale and Hosttech in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Vertec creates local backups daily and saves the data of the past seven days. This ensures that in the event of data loss or failure, a quick recovery is possible. Vertec also saves customer data at two external backup providers. These providers, Infomaniak in Switzerland and IONOS in Germany, are ISO 27001 certified.
In addition, geographical redundancy is achieved by distributing data between two countries. This allows for a more flexible response to country-specific crisis situations, such as power shortages. It is also worth mentioning that data is always transmitted and stored in encrypted form. This prevents unauthorized access by third parties.
Self service for Cloud Suite customers in the Customer Portal
In the Vertec Customer Portal, customers can order licenses at any time, purchase additional modules or reduce them with a notice period of 20 days at the end of the quarter. Likewise, Cloud Suite customers can download a backup of their data at any time in the Customer Portal or restart their Cloud Suite instance. This gives them even better control and can actively prevent data loss themselves.
24/7 data in the Vertec Cloud Suite
In the last 12 months, we have achieved an availability of 99.9% for the Vertec Cloud Suite from Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Schedule maintenance windows usually take place monthly and start at 8 p.m. at the earliest. We monitor the Cloud Suite infrastructure around the clock and in the event of a failure, the responsible employees are immediately notified via an alerting system. On this status page, our customers can also log in and receive an email notification of upcoming maintenance windows. This allows them to proactively plan their activities in advance.
